We’re a step closer to the dream of a mind-controlled TV, thanks to a BBC prototype



LONDON — It’s every lazy person’s dream. Imagine you’re relaxing after a long day at work, perhaps binge-watching your favourite series. Instead of reaching for the remote to switch the channel, you could just think about what you wanted to watch next — and boom, the TV station changes.

On Thursday, the BBC unveiled an internal prototype of a “Mind Control” TV that it worked on with UK-based company This Place. The headset enables people to open a version of the BBC’s video on demand service iPlayer using only brainwaves

BBC Digital’s Head of Business Development Cyrus Saihan wrote in a blog post that 10 staff members tried out the app and all were able to launch the player and view a programme using their minds. Read more…
